Enlightenment Cityscape I Cityscape II
Medium: Acrylics Medium: Acrylics & Carbon Medium: Acrylics, Spray Paints & Silver leaf
Dated: Oct 2002 Dated: Mar 2003 Dated: Oct 2004

Notes: This is fundamentally a Feng Shui piece. What's different is that I painted this while deeply inspired by Buddhist philosophy and books by the Dalai Lama. Can you see the curls of Buddha's hair in the gold?

Detail

Notes: For the longest time, I saw Bangkok through rose-tinted glasses. The result? A glorious golden cityscape....but also one-dimensional and feeble, and lacking in confidence and substance.

Notes: By 2004, I'd grown weary of the traffic, pollution and general apathy. This picture represents what I really feel about Bangkok: Aesthetically unpleasant to me, but making sense in shape and form. I still love it, but I think I see it now.

Notes: Under the slabs of colour lies a serene beachscape. It represents the complexities of human nature.
* Presented to my good friend, Chompol Phornchindarak (Tong); In return, he wrote me a piece of music. How cool is that!?
Notes: In my mind's eye - it evokes Dylan Thomas' refrain from "Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night" so I titled it such. "Rage rage against the dying of the light!" This was painted over a portrait of a young Oriental lady.
* Presented to Mr Raul Barros, Chile (March 2003)
Notes: I've been hearing voices in my sleep since I was little (scientifically attributed to "Sleep Paralysis"). With "Dreaming", I mark my coming to terms with this. Even though I hear - No more fear.

Medium: Acrylic & Silver Leaf
Medium: Pen, Ink & Watercolours
Medium: Watercolours
Dated: Oct 2002
Dated: August 2002
Dated: c.1988
Notes: Painted this spontaneously while mulling over 9/11.
Notes: A practice piece that I've framed up for my kitchen. Started with the watercolours, played around with salt, sponge and drawing gum, and finished off with technical pen in brown and black ink. Nice!
Notes: I love this. Life IS a LIME. We are all just making Nam Manao aren't we?

Notes: A post-Tolkien doodle. There is something androgynous about her look that I find ugly and unsettling. But my friend, Huey Na, thinks it's a good picture, so here it is...
Notes: Sketched this view of Chinatown from a window at E3, a friend's uncle's engineering firm.
Notes: This view is from the back- window at E3. Much more interesting composition & colours.

Notes: Sketch of my colleague's sister who's an Air Stewardess with SIA. A great way to fly indeed.... Notes: When people watch me sketch, they always ask me "who is that?". Often, as in this picture, it's someone - but no one I know in particular, yet. (I like to tell people I drew a profile of my husband before I ever met him. It's TRUE!) Notes: Cornered into boredom on a rainy night, I dipped a flying ant into ink and had him walk on my drawing pad. With some gentle prodding, I think I got pure ZEN! (Note to animal/insect activists - I let him go unscathed except for blackend wings!)
