In Love | The Lady & Her Dragon | Doodle Birds |
Dated: Mar 2008 | Dated: Sep 2003 | Dated: Mar 2008 |
Notes: The figure's phallus-like silhouette is deliberate. Is it a he or she? Is she thinking about a lover? What is man without woman and woman without man? What then are they united? On a macro-level, I wanted to question gender roles and stereotypes. The forest signifies knowledge. The sky, enlightenment. |
Notes: I love the fantasy genre. I just wish I had more patience drawing dragons. This took me a long time to complete, but the color didn't quite work for me.... |
Notes: Armed with a bunch of Copic ink markers (fabulous things those are...), I doodled this. |

Dated: Jan 2002 | Dated: c.1990 | Dated: c.1990 |
Notes: More after effects of Tolkien's LOTR. Here's a sketch I did of some trees just outside my hotel room at Chaam Beach. | Notes:"All that's beautiful drifts away Like the waters." WB Yeats - The Old Men Admiring Themselves in the Water | Notes: "Ay me, how weak a thing The heart of woman is". Julius Caesar II.4 - Portia to herself |
Rabari Herder | Dragon I | Dragon II |
Dated: Dec 96 | Dated: DEC 1996 | Dated: Jan 1997 |
Notes: From a National Geographic magazine. Find out about Rabaris here. | Notes: I started drawing a horse, but it warped itself into a Dragon. Very hard-to-configure, but very auspicious figure-8! | Notes: On a roll, I kept on drawing Dragons. I had to refer to chickens, horses and other animals to compose this one. |
Sleepytime Bear | Dragon III | Dragon IV |
Dated: DEC 1996 | Dated: Jan 1997 | Dated: Jan 1997 |
Notes: From a Sleepy Time teabag. | Notes: This one I modelled after a sitting cat. And in case you didn't know, I love cats! | Notes: Got lazy...If you are observant, you'll see that this one is half-done. |
